Form 888

The Form 888 is very important for an Australian partner visa application because it acts as a statutory declaration from Australian witnesses to confirm that your relationship is genuine and ongoing. Here’s why it matters:

  • Supports Your Relationship Evidence – The 888 form allows friends, family members, or community members (usually Australian citizens or permanent residents) to provide a signed statement about your relationship.
  • Adds Credibility – Immigration officers place strong weight on third-party statements, especially from people who know both you and your partner personally.
  • Required Format – Using the official form ensures the declaration is legally valid under Australian law.
  • Helps Build a Complete Application – Partner visas are assessed based on the “genuineness” of the relationship. A well-prepared set of Form 888s helps make this easier for the case officer to see.

Most applicants include at least two Form 888s, but submitting more can strengthen your case (as long as they are from relevant witnesses who know your relationship well).
